Cyber Monday!

Hello

The shopping never ends does it.xP Retailers keep coming up with new "days" and specials that just lure and tempt online shoppers into parting with money in order to contribute to the economy of the world. Either that, or they are lured into stores to part with their money in immediate exchange for goods.

Obviously, I'm not exception seeing as I am weak when it comes to good deals.=P I was rather pleased with myself however, when I managed to resist Cyber Monday. Haha. I did put items in the shopping cart, but thinking twice about it, removed myself completely from the sites since I've already contributed duly to the economy through Black Friday shopping.

Prudence, of course, was not the only thing that deterred me... Work too called far too strongly (as did sleepiness) and so I forgo-ed shopping for work. Haha. I guess that's the way it's supposed to be anyway.

But taking this research methods in Psychology class is making me react severely toward research because I have a
strong dislike for it.xP I just find data collection and preparation of material and finding research topics far too troublesome to be worth anything. The Japanese have a good phrase for it "面倒くさい!" xP It's just me of course, since I do know people who adore research.

Going back to reading Japanese literature (translated for sure), and doing Japanese homework is so much more relaxing for my brain.-_-" I guess that settles it, anything with science in it (or math) is definitely unsuitable for my poor humanities-focused brain.xP I wonder if this is telling of anything...?

Randomly, I cannot wait for Gackt's new releases!!! YATTA.=D Alice Nine's new release (DVD - Untitled Vandalism Finale Graced The Beautiful Day) was so good.xD

I cannot wait for winter break to make its way here. I can watch my anime! And dramas! And variety shows! And DVDs! xD xD xD This semester is really killing me, and I don't think next semester will be any better. ;_;

cheers

Owl City - Fireflies

You would not believe your eyes
If ten million fireflies
Lit up the world as I fell asleep
Cause they'd fill the open air
And leave tear drops everywhere
You'd think me rude but I would just stand and stare

I'd like to make myself believe
That planet Earth turns, slowly
It's hard to say that I'd rather stay awake when I'm asleep
Cause everything is never as it seems

Cause I'd get a thousand hugs
From ten thousand lightning bugs
As they tried to teach me how to dance
A foxtrot above my head
A sock-hop beneath my bed
The disco ball is just hanging by a thread
(Thread, thread...)

I'd like to make myself believe
That planet Earth turns, slowly
It's hard to say that I'd rather stay awake when I'm asleep
Cause everything is never as it seems
(When I fall asleep)

Leave my door open just a crack
(Please take me away from here)
Cause I feel like such an insomniac
(Please take me away from here)
Why do I tire of counting sheep?
(Please take me away from here)
When I'm far too tired to fall asleep
(Ha-ha)

To ten million fireflies
I'm weird cause I hate goodbyes
I got misty eyes as they said farewell
(Said farewell)
But I'll know where several are
If my dreams get real bizarre
Cause I saved a few and I keep them in a jar
(Jar, jar, jar...)

I'd like to make myself believe
That planet Earth turns, slowly
It's hard to say that I'd rather stay awake when I'm asleep
Cause everything is never as it seems
(When I fall asleep)
(2x)

I'd like to make myself believe
That planet Earth turns, slowly
It's hard to say that I'd rather stay awake when I'm asleep
Because my dreams are bursting at the seams

I am hooked on this song.^_^

~~\(´┏_┓`)/~~

So the plan is to write a blog in 3 languages. O gosh. What am I getting myself into. I guess what I'll do first is to translate the above into Chinese~ x__x I sense death ahead.

THAT WAS TOTALLY HARD. *faints* I even had to use a Chinese dictionary when I didn't have to use one for Japanese. Do you see this gigantic problem here... X__X!!! I sincerely hope this effort pays off... Coming up with words in Chinese is
so hard. X__X

Obviously the neural pathways that used to exist in the Chinese section of my brain need rejuvenation somewhere...

これからも頑張ります!~ [Somehow, saying "从现在起,我会努力的!" doesn't have the same effect O__o]

Just 15 minutes ago, as I left Mitchell Field, after watching the shooting stars at this time of the night, one word to describe it would be: amazing. In just 30 minutes (or so), I managed to see something so beautiful and indescribable that I have never seen in all the years I've been around.^_^ Yay for random, impulsive, spontaneous action with XY and XW ^_^

Sacrificing sleep to see a sky filled with stars, and then the occasional flash of a disappearing shooting star is totally worth it.^_^

Honestly, shooting stars go by so fast there's no time to make a wish - but there is time to marvel at nature in all its glory once again. I guess this youthful energy is perfect for taking advantage of the situation and going to see real 流れ星 (shooting stars).

This should remind me of 中島美嘉 (Nakashima Mika)'s 流れ星 since it's the same word, but what it really reminds me of is supercell's 君の知らない物語 and Bakemonogatari's scene - 最後の星空. It's all Bakemonogatari's fault for creating the perfect "awkward teenage love's sweet scene between characters" scene with this song, and staple stable on piano as background music.

The soundtrack of Bakemonogatari is as awesome as Honey & Clover (which wins by a hair's breadth). ^_^

But, when we got too cold to continue standing in the dark field, and we returned to the car - Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol was playing which was so fitting for the moment...^_^

If I lay here, if I just lay here, would you lie with me and just forget the world?

Meteor showers, you win. Your awesomeness is going to be hard to beat, and the moment in time when the sky is simply filled with twinkling stars and suddenly, a star flies by and disappears is going to remain for quite a while.^_^

I could sit there all night.

cheers *[-witchstone-]*

~*~

In the blink of an eye, it became November. It's been so fast, I've barely noticed time passing - or maybe I have noticed it's passing but certainly not time that is rushing towards us. When you have nothing to do, time seems to stretch endlessly out, luxuriously giving you time to pursue whatever you like. But when you're busy and have loads of things to do, time just rushes at you like a bullet train (or Shinkansen!), bypassing your stop if you don't reach out to grab it - and sometimes it goes by so fast you don't even know it's gone.

Studying for the stupid Research Methods in Psychology exam is killing my brain.. -_-" It's such a boring class that's useful for people who want to do research but not so much for people like me who will never succeed at that kind of thing.X__X At least this exam has much less content than the previous one - which probably indicates more in-depth questions?! (T_T) I weep.

As the title suggests, it hasn't snowed yet. And it's already NOVEMBER. I haven't even pulled out my winter jackets! (T_T) This is Global Warming's fault. I want my snow! It better come soon.xP

Anyway, the time is making my brain addled with sleepiness. I shall take my leave now.

cheers

I love 化物語 (bakemonogatari) so much~ ^_^

I re-watched the last episode shown on TV (episode 12) like,
again. It's such a sweet episode!! ^_^ Unlike 君に届け (kimi ni todoke) which is really just teenage angst, 化物語 has all these teenagers who don't just angst about their lives, but actually talk about stuff that is relevant, I think, to other age groups too.

And when the music starts playing, it all just fits.^_^ Wee! They probably wrote the script to match the lyrics of the ED but it all just fit really well. Yay.

from 君の知らない物語 by supercell

^_^ I'm looking forward to the rest of the anime.

moon in a dewdrop

Hello

I am currently reading
moon in a dewdrop, which collects the works of the Zen master Dogen (道元) and I am understanding absolutely nothing. X__X It makes my preparation for the Japanese oral exam [which is a mock business interview and I'm definitely going to die] seem easy.

Let me quote you something:
Sit solidly in samadhi and think not-thinking. How do you think not-thinking? Nonthinking. This is the art of zazen.

Now allow me to say: WHAT!?! I am so baffled by this. He goes on and on in all this naturalistic poetic stuff that sends me into a tizzy and like, ?!? because I'm completely utterly lost as to how I'm supposed to interpret what he says.

Another section:
Enlightenment is like the moon reflected on the water. The moon does not get wet, nor is the water broken. Although its light is wide and great, the moon is reflected even in a puddle an inch wide. The whole moon and the entire sky are reflected in a dewdrops on the grass, or even in one drop of water.
Enlightenment does not divide you, just as the moon does not break the water. You cannot hinder enlightenment, just as a drop of water does not hinder the moon in the sky.
The depth of the drop is the height of the moon. Each reflection, however long or short its duration, manifests the vastness of the dewdrop, and realizes the limitlessness of the moonlight in the sky.

I totally appreciate the whole like, poetic tone of this being ~zen~ thing so I'm being very ~zen~ about it and just absorbing like a sponge - which is what he recommends anyway because if you have your own thoughts about stuff you won't be able to attain enlightenment. Or something like that. X__X

And besides reading this inexplicable stuff, I'm also attempting to remember what I'm supposed to say during the mock interview that is my oral exam. Please kill me now. This whole 敬語 (keigo; honorifics) thing is terrible. And remembering the "nice" way of saying things is really hard. (T_T) Plus I get incredibly nervous during such situations which doesn't help much. 囧

Randomly...

Sam's comment made me think of the "Rayleigh scattering effect of your eyes!" from my trip to Sydney. Hoho. Except that's a different Rayleigh, and a different spelling of the name too..

山下智久 (aka YamaP!) has a new PV (this is a short version and thus incomplete) where he looks droolful:

Allow me to now skulk back to my work. X__X May I have amazing memory and zero nerves for my exam tomorrow!

cheers

[food : Fried Rice!!! I want to make Pumpkin Soup xP]

Sam: Nope, the scientist is Rayleigh! Raleigh is an Elizabethan period poet.^_^

potatoos: I hate typing "potatoos"! It's completely inaccurate.-_-" But yay I like cheesecake and scones too! Though I think my versions can do with improvement xP

The Moon

The Moon

Time wears her not; she doth his chariot guide;
Mortality below her orb is placed.
--Raleigh

The full-orbed moon with unchanged ray
Mounts up the eastern sky,
Not doomed to these short nights for aye,
But shining steadily.

She does not wane, but my fortune,
Which her rays do not bless,
My wayward path declineth soon,
But she shines not the less.

And if she faintly glimmers here,
And paled is her light,
Yet alway in her proper sphere
She's mistress of the night.

Henry David Thoreau

It's fitting to post this today simply because the moon is shining really brightly and casting its glow, lighting everyone's way tonight.^_^

In a way, the subtlety of the moon is in contrast with its significant other, the prominent glare of the sun. But in the end, it's the cloud cover that dulls the shine from both moon and sun, evening things out..

Thinking back, the calming and somewhat mysterious light of the moon is always something I looked forward to when I was in Singapore, especially since it was pretty rare to get the moon shining brightly down on the earth there. Strange isn't it.. Considering Singapore's near the equator and gets super strong sunlight (though I swear it's more intense in the US and Japan...xP), but not so much strong moonlight. Hmm.

When I think of the Moon... Several images come to mind. ;)

Firstly.. The moon of course! ^_^ Nothing can replace nature.

Gackt's Moon album!!! ^_^ Prettiest album EVER, along with Crescent of course... Beams. I don't really distinguish them as separate albums since they are a pair...

The 2 prettiest CDs I own.^_^v

Along with a whole host of other calming, dark, goth-y images. Haha. ^_^

What's wrong with black? Onward to my goal of an all-black wardrobe!
